Matt's encouraging words led me to check out the palisades park. If you go left off the bridge and hang left around the curve down the hill (don't go past the gate to the park; stay on the path next to the main road), you can get into the palisades park. As Matt says, it is a really great route; it has a fair amount of up and down hills, so you'll get a good workout, but it is also very scenic.

A word of caution: make sure you wear a helmet. The officer there gave me a warning and said he had handed out 10 tickets last weekend, but the was benevolent this week.

Doug-

Thanks for the post. It actually helped me on my ride today.

You are right that to get to Palisades Park you need to head south - I would highly recommend this route. A big part of it is closed to all traffic and is very scenic.

Thanks again.
